Around Personalizer
"I had hoped that console manufacturers would make something similar so
that whenever I loaded a game, it would know I wanted
subtitles/captioning on for all my games. Currently, I have to turn
it on for all of my console games. With something like the
Personalizer I wouldn't have to. [...]
As games begin to include more and more accessibility options, it will
take players more time to setup each game. I think The Pyramid is the
best example so far of a game offering so many configurable options
that it takes a long time just to get into the game. I hope one day
that most games will start to use similar accessibility features and
something like the Personalizer will help to standardize and manage
all of that.
For example, someone could have a Personalizer that configures all
their games to run at 50% speed, increase text size to 20% larger,
turn on closed-captions and configure a head tracker device for
looking around (if it's an FPS game)."

Random thoughts related to configuring games
"Game designers, creators and testers are hardcore gamers; game magazine writers and editors are hardcore gamers. However, the majority of the gaming audience is not, and neither are those who are just now discovering gaming - and these gamers are the ones that actually pay for their games and keep the industry in the black." —Michael Eilers, "Difficulty and the Interstitial Gamer", Gamasutra.com.
"The point is, for some ungodly reason, Microsoft saw fit to change keystrokes in X. Are you kidding? Do they know how long it took some of us to finally come to grips with the key commands? This is to say nothing of the weeks spent programming all of our various assorted peripherals, getting them to do our bidding and bending FS2004 to our will. There is something terribly wrong with preparing to go at the end of the runway, running up the engines to check for balance and performance, and then hitting the precisely and lovingly assigned key on my yoke in order to enable the FADEC to go into TOGA mode, only to remain in place watching the N2 value sit at 50% on the EICAS. (If you can follow any of that, give yourself a gold star. If you find a mistake, keep it to yourself. I just love talking the talk). Where's the TOGA switch? Button assignment? Puh-lease. If you wish to use the buttons in FSX, you will have to start from scratch (with a few exceptions)." —Chip Barber, FlightSim.com, "I Still Prefer FS2004".

"With so many games, it takes 15 minutes to install them, then half an hour to set your options and see the introduction, then 15 minutes of tutorial, and another half an hour or so before anything really interesting starts to happen."
